Next do Blues vs Greens in Constantinople Chariot Races.

…which were of course representative of deep religious theological disputes on the nature of God and the nature of Christ’s divine vs physical existence, and every tanner and blacksmith had an educated opinion that would stump most of today’s PhDs, and this led to riots and slaughter that nearly toppled Justinian, except his brave wife fortified his resolve, being a very holy woman, if you ignore the secret histories, and Justinian codified the situation with a tremendous slaughter, all quite legal of course… and…

Seriously we need to up our gang colors game.

Fragmentation has its drawbacks, but will get us rid of bipartisanship, which is awful.

The effect of PR (Proportional Representation) in Brazil and in general is more factions to pay off and vast opportunities for grifters of otherwise limited opportunities. Except in places like Iraq WHERE every faction has its own militias and they kill instead of pay- I saw PR in Iraq.

(It’s like the Knesset except they are more honest about their Semitic bloodlust. )

BUT AMERICA ALREADY HAS PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION.

We just don’t acknowledge that.

Between Primaries for the voters to select the Party candidate and Campaign Finance Restrictions every politician is their party.

- just talking about the United States if you look at what political parties do and what people think they do, as opposed to what actually happens in the United States we really don’t have two political parties due to campaign Finance restrictions and legal systems designed to make candidate selection more democratic. The parties don’t pick the candidates or control them or control the slate, if anyone thinks they do this is a misunderstanding. What we actually have for instance on Capitol Hill alone at the national level is 535 political parties. see every one of these politicians is essentially on their own fundraising or with bundle fundraising but the idea that we have two political parties, Democrat, and Republican in the United States like parties in other countries is simply not true.

So we already have proportional representation. I think 535 individual political parties on Capitol Hill in Washington is quite enough . It has of course exactly the identical effect of proportional representation in Brazil. now if you don’t believe me, I think you could probably get a hold of a Washington lobbyist who will explain this to you. Every Congressman and senator must be paid. Yes they have a franchise called democratic or a franchise called Republican. That’s all. The franchise doesn’t do that much for them. It certainly doesn’t control their vote or whether they run or not. those are franchisees. Most of their money they have to go get themselves or they have to make deals with bundlers, and of course behind the bundler there’s lobbies, but there’s no party that sits there and runs 39th New York district, or picks the candidate. Not in New York and not in the United States.

I don’t think that’s been the case for decades that probably hasn’t been the case since the 68 convention in Chicago, which didn’t work out too well - so hence primaries. If the candidate excels the Party can’t deny the voters, if the candidate is repulsive they can only be saved by … perhaps… a sort of er ah emergency plague vaccine ballot system, sort of Brazil’s Jet Wash applied to balloting.

It’s just simply not true there’s 2 parties. Every last one of these noble creatures are on their own.

America doesn’t have Parties, it has political Franchises and Franchisees under D or R. The Franchise helps … or can hinder… but the notion that these are “parties” like other countries isn’t really the case.

My Dear Roman, this is America!

We’re the LLC nation!

Why I myself am an LLC.

(And for $800~$1500 you can be too, which might advantage you in America, it might not.)

It is very strange that you would say that Dante supported papal power against the imperial.

Dante was for imperial power independent of the pope. Question at that time was whether the political authority, which everybody accepted came from God, came directly from God or came via the Pope.

Ghibblines were gone by the time Dante appeared on scene and there were only two fractions of Guelfs, the Black and the Whites and they were opposed on the papal vs the imperial question. Dante was for the Emperor.
